Poor mechanics and bad batting habits are easy to pick up, often resulting in a very complicated at-bat ritual and/or swing mechanics that rob a player of power potential. At America’s Pastime Sports, we believe the key to baseball hitting instruction is Keep It Simple. We emphasize ideal body positioning, alignment and timing to get your hands to the ball faster and use your entire frame to drive the ball.
Our trainers need to know what players need to work on most, so all baseball instruction—whether for a drop-in session or as part of an intensive development program—begins with assessment. Our instructors will diagnose what in your swing works and what needs modifying to be a more effective batter.
Hitting lessons are tailored to a player’s ability level and mechanics development needs, so instruction varies. However, players will be working one-on-one with a hitting trainer in a non-machine cage. Some lessons may also incorporate strength training exercises using equipment in the Agility Circuit and/or may culminate with practice in the automated batting cages.
To get the most out of your baseball hitting lessons, we recommend players come prepared:
*America’s Pastime Sports has all the house equipment you need (except batting gloves), but players are welcome to bring their own helmets and bats for baseball hitting lessons.
Being an effective batter means more than having a good swing. You need to know when to swing. Our trainers will help you develop other hitting skills—e.g. reading the ball, drawing a walk, batting vs. bunting—to make you more effective at the plate.
